That designation hung in the balance last night until midnight with the Royals - Tigers game. It was 1-1 going into the ninth and the home field advantage of the Tigers was somewhat nullified by the great Royals' bullpen. The bullpen won out and I didn't have a great day. I had a good day.</span></div><div style="color: #444444; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Monday's picks:</span></div><ul style="color: #444444; line-height: 1.5; list-style: square; margin: 0px 0px 24px 1.5em; padding: 0px;"><li style="line-height: 1.5;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="line-height: 1.5; text-decoration: underline;">The Pirates over the <strong style="color: black; line-height: 1.5;">Phillies</strong></span>: The Pirates came alive a little bit against the Cards. <strong style="color: black; line-height: 1.5;"><a data-mce-href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/colege01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/colege01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" rel="nofollow" style="color: #743399; line-height: 1.5;" target="_blank">Gerrit Cole</a></strong> pitches and he has been great. <strong style="color: black; line-height: 1.5;"><a data-mce-href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/willije01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/willije01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" rel="nofollow" style="color: #743399; line-height: 1.5;" target="_blank">Jerome Williams</a></strong> goes for the Phillies and he will pitch well about a third of the time. I'm counting on this not being one of those thirds.</span></li><li style="line-height: 1.5;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="line-height: 1.5; text-decoration: underline;">The <strong style="color: black; line-height: 1.5;">Orioles</strong> over the Blue Jays</span>: I don't think the AL East has played anyone but each other for the first six weeks of the season. And anything can happen in any match-up. When is the last time it was like that? And the picks make me look like a complete dope. And if the two cancel each other out, then the A's have the better bullpen.</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The <strong>Yankees</strong> split with the Pirates</span>: A good old-fashioned double-header where one ticket can get you two games. Holy cow, what a concept. I like the Yankees in the first game with <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kurodhi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Hiroki Kuroda</a></strong> over <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?results=mortoch02,mortoch01&utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Charlie Morton</a></strong>. He only pitched seven innings on his rehab in the minors and did not look great with lots of hits and homers. But I also don't like <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/floydga01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Gavin Floyd</a></strong> for the Braves either. Like I said, Ugh.</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The <strong>Cubs</strong> over the Brewers</span>: The Brewers are free-falling a bit. And Gomez has a bad back. And the Brewers are facing the Cubs' very good pitcher, <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/woodtr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Travis Wood</a></strong>. I don't think so. I think it was just a coincidence. But then he went out of the game. So why pick the Red Sox then? But I have been fooled by him before that way.</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The <strong>Braves</strong> over the Reds</span>: <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/baileho02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Homer Bailey</a></strong> will strike out eleven Braves batters and the Braves will still win. It's unbelievable that way. This Braves team is unlike any I have ever seen before. <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/santaer01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Ervin Santana</a></strong> starts tonight.</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The <strong>Brewers</strong> over the Cubs</span>: <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/villaca01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Carlos Villanueva</a></strong> has been brutal his last two starts. Naturally, I would expect that to go against me if I picked against him. But I like <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/garzama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.flagrantfan.com" target="_blank">Matt Garza</a></strong> and the Brewers at home against a Cubs team that struggles on offense.</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The Tigers over the <strong>Twins</strong></span>: The Twins have been such a surprise so far. It is hard to pick against them. <div style="text-align: justify;">Saturday was a much better day than the previous three! Ten out of fifteen correct is a much better showing. The Orioles - Blue Jays game could have gone either way. I did not expect the Astros to win. But pretty much everything else went according to plan.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now comes Sunday, the best baseball day of the week with all the day games.
